About us
We started small but can become big.
The Joy on Earth idea was born and based on a triple trusting friendship. Gerusa, Stephane and Monique were laying down on the floor of their house talking about their willing to help people. The Joy on Earth Association was created with the main idea to spread Joy on the entire planet, with no barriers to stop them.
Who we are
GERUSA ILHA –
In 2006, Gerusa traveled to New Zealand looking for another life experience. After 7 amazing years in the Kiwi Country, working, travelling and volunteering, decided to go to Africa to put her hands in action. She spent almost 2 years working at Sunrise Children’s Home orphanage in Uhekule Village, Tanzania.
She used to run the place in the absence of the Ms Bibi Kay. She brought endless love and energy to the kids, working to make the site sustainable, setting up a big veggie garden; building a water pump, selling eggs and milk to raise money and so on... She is now considered a mother by the kids.
STEPHANE ROMIER –
He started to work with kids and teenagers in social areas since he was 17, and studied to become a teacher. Then he decide to go for a new path, travel to New Zealand where he stayed almost 3 years; it was a life learning experience. He also spent some months volunteering at Sunrise Children’s Home in 2014 and in 2015. As a teacher he is focused on Education, teaching skills to the kids to help them have an better life. Being happy is the best way to learn and improve life.
MONIQUE FURIERI BEDIM –
Monique is a cultivated Brazilian lady. Upon almost 10 years working as lawyer, Monique stood up on her feet, decided to put her career on a side; and traveled to New Zealand. Much to her surprise, this ended up being one of the best decisions she ever made. She learned to live her own life, worked in different areas, bringing loving and caring around her. She is now settled in New Zealand with a partner and a beautiful son.
